My boyfriend got me a Polaroid Cube last June 2015 for my birthday since I was also booked for a getaway in the Philippines. I was just scrolling through my feeds when I saw a Polaroid cube+ ad. Basically, it is the updated version of the Polaroid Cube, which was launched last year (or maybe 2 years ago).
For those who do not know what Polaroid Cube is, it is a budget-friendly lifestyle action camera, which is similar to the Go Pro series cameras. I would like to emphasize the word “lifestyle” in its name because Polaroid cube is for those type of people who takes a picture for fun- no stunts or action purposes. It also has some mounts that can be used and bought on Ebay and Amazon.
For 100 USD, you can have a Polaroid Cube Original. This Polaroid CUBETM HD lifestyle action video camera is weatherproof/splash proof, mountable and built to handle everything you can imagine.
Listed on its site, the following below are its features:
- Records HD 1080p/720p video
- Professional 6MP Still Photos
- 124º viewing angle
- Weatherproof/splash proof
- LED Indicator
- Built-in high capacity battery records up to 90 minutes
- Available in a variety of colors: black, red, and blue
It is very easy to operate. There’s only one button to press for power, camera mode and video mode. You can either listen for the beep or look at its light indicator (red & yellow). It can record depending on the availability of your SD Card memory, however for long videos, it is automatically divided into 5 minutes. That said, I find it easier to edit my videos as it is already cropped and I don’t need anymore to watch, find and cut the clips I want.
I must say, that with my mounts and accessories, it cost me around hundred bucks.
Below are sample clips from my Polaroid Cube, compiled and edited in one video.
I don’t have the Polaroid Cube+ yet, but from what I’ve read the change had been an interesting upgrade! Guess what? It is really a lot like Go Pro now. It has a built in wifiiiiii and mobile app! Taking pictures and videos are made easier.
For now, due to my studies, I won’t be getting any long vacation so I guess I can wait for the 3rd generation Polaroid Cube and will update this blog for my review.
